A man for everyone, bringing meaning and life to the people he encountered.
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, John Kostic who was born in New Jersey on November 29, 1984 and passed away on November 18, 2005 at the age of 20. He was killed in a tragic car accident after being rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. Please keep him in your prayers. We will remember him forever.
John & his family can never receive too many candles. We appreciate it more than you'll ever know!
All your memories and lit candles will provide so much comfort to his family.
The John E. Kostic Memorial Foundation has given out over $200,000 in scholarships and grants since its inception in 2006.

COMMUNITY SERVICE ESSAY John wrote this essay as a senior in high school. Enjoy!
In my past thirteen years in Delran Township Schools I have learned a great deal. I am truly thankful for what my teachers and fellow students alike have passed on. However, I am grateful to say that not all I have learned comes from this single institution. As a man, I firmly believe that I have learned a great deal in the past year alone by giving back to my community through service. Service to my community has greatly enhanced my perception on life. Sometimes you never realize how well you really are until you put aside your selfish motives that every human being has and completely give your time and effort to some cause or belief. Service is not done because it is expected or required, but because it is right.
As an honor student, I have tutored fellow students in the National Honor’s Society tutoring program and aided the American Red Cross in their two annual blood drives held at our high school. I have volunteered my time at Millbridge Elementary School every year and engage with the children by teaching them a foreign language. By investing my services in our community’s youth, I am investing in our future, in the children that one day will go on to do great things.
I am an active member of The Church of the Holy Name, and have assisted in fund-raising efforts. As an officer in the French club in past years, and as a current member, we have painted pumpkins for the children of Providence House, held a canned food drive in the holiday season, collected supplies for our troops overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as continue raising funds for the benefit of our club. Over the summer, I volunteered my time at the Burlington County Library, Cinnaminson Branch, by helping them out with various functions and programs. Last summer I attended the American Legions Boys State Program where I actively participated in learning how my own government functions and ran for several elected positions. The list can go on and on, but ask yourself one thing, Why does a person perform service? Some will do it to gain recognition, others to advance their status in life, while some do it because they are told. Me, I do it because it must be done. Someone in this world has to stop thinking solely about themselves and devote their time to a higher cause, a higher purpose, to something they know is right and to do it because it is morally the right thing to do. |

John's Thoughts on His Parents - Written in 2005 My parents are fundamentally and unquestionably responsible for the person I am today. They have raised me from birth with the morals and virtues and that will echo throughout my spiritual being. Morality has primarily been defined by my parents. They have provided me with every opportunity a young man could ask for, including decent schooling, a stable home life, and love. |
